Description | Eiji Horio (then, 13), a first-year student in Second Hiroshima Prefectural Junior High School, was exposed to the bombing at his building demolition site. Burned severely over his whole body, he had immersed himself in the Honkawa River when he was rescued by the mother of a classmate. When his mother, Toshiko, learned where he was, she fetched him home in a cart. At around 3:00 a.m. on August 10, however, with his parents crying, "Eiji! Eiji!"at his side, he died. This uniform was stuck to his burned skin. Toshiko had to cut it off with scissors. |
