| Description | Rice Box Donated by Ikuyo Nishima and Shinichi Kudo 1,100 m from the hypocenter; Kita-eno-machi (now, Eno-machi) There were nine people in the Kudo family. Third daughter Akiko (5) died on the 6th. Second son Mitsutoshi (16) was found dead on the 8th. Father Hatsumi (then 42) and mother Hisano (40) and third son Yasuhiro (13) died in early September. Ikuyo (then, 21) survived with three other children. This rice box was found in the burned ruins of the family home on August 10. Ikuyo preserved it carefully ever after. |
