Kinji Matsuda (then, 25), who was demobilized on August 24, 1945, then returned to Hiroshima, was reunited with his mother, Masayo (then, 50), who was exposed at home and was dying. There he learned that his youngest brother Hiroaki (then, 4) had been killed under the collapsed house, and that the whereabouts of his father Toyotaro (then, 59) and younger sister Ichiko (then, 20) were unknown. Masayo died on October 1. The remains of Toyotaro and Ichiko were never found. This bottle was found among the ruins of the house. |
