Description | Father's gun, keys, binoculars, and wristwatch found in the ashes Akio Nakamura's (then, 13) father, Shigeo Nakamura (then, 37), died in the bombing while at work at the Chugoku Military Police Headquarters. Akio went with his mother to the headquarters on August 9 where they discovered Shigeo's scattered remains among the ashes. This wristwatch was a clue confirming that his father had been there. It was his favorite watch and the band had just been changed, but now the face and band were both burned black and the arms had stopped at 9:40. Donated by Akio Nakamura |
