Kyokushin Myoga (then 16) was a first-year student at Hiroshima Higher School of Education. Immediately after the bombing, he served as a relief and rescue worker near Senda-machi (About 1,700m from the hypocenter). Bags like this were distributed by the army that day, and Kyokushin shouldered this bag as he dug himself into the collapsed buildings such as Yamanaka Girls High School (attached to Hiroshima Women's Higher School of Education) to rescue people trapped under the debris. But the fire spread swiftly, and he was helpless to save many girl students who were burned alive in front of his eyes. |
